Day 4 - Movin on up.....

Today is the day!  Cinco De Mayo and the Kentucky Derby!  Oh yeah, we also head home to Springs Village.  We are excited / nervous to get Jordie out of Presbyterian Hospital (though it was a great experience) and into our home!  Butterflies were certainly in our stomach for much of the morning as we awaited word from Dr. Bland (Penny's Doctor) and Dr. Lye (Jordie's Doctor) that we were discharged.  I have heard the stories over and over that the ride home will be a slow one and the moment you step into the house there is a feeling of "What Now?"  We will certainly miss the nurses who so graciously helped us through the last 4 nights with check-ups and reassurances.  We will not miss the menu or the 1985 Television set.  The exit from the Hospital was almost as uneventful as the entrance.  We walked right out after getting Jordies security band cut off at the nursery.

Prior to heading out, Jordie had one last trip to the Nursery Salon for a quick shampoo and got a last minute visit from Sweet Sherry (the nurse who helped deliver Jordie).  After packing the car (luckily Heidi and Kelly took some stuff the day before), we brought in the car seat (Bree made sure we were not tightening her too tight) and said our goodbyes to the staff.

Comment of the Day (from a Nurse):
"I want my little boy to come home in middle school or high school and tell me he is in love with a girl named Jordie Hawkins."

Photo of the Day 4:

Prior to leaving my first digs, Dad had to get some photo reminders of where I spent my first four nights  in the world.
The door to Room 808, announcing my birth!  All my yoga kicking could mean I will be a ballerina one day!
A room with a view (you can see Duke Energy Building in the distance)
My balloon announcing that a Girl is Born!  Thanks Gee!

I had a visitor this morning.  I knew his voice sounded familiar, but I missed seeing him on May 1st.  One of his friends had to deliver me because he was not on call.  Dr. Bland is a great doctor and clearly likes the looks of this little girl.

Dr. Bland jokes around with me - we missed him being on call by 3 days

Dad packed the car, pulled the car around to the front and then came up to get me and Mom.  They didn't even make Mom go down in a wheelchair - I mean, can you say "Anti-climatic."

Mom is ready to go home!
Locked and Loaded - car seat brought some tears (tears of joy), but nothing a little rocking can't help
Going home with Aunt Emy's blanket, just like my friend, Betty!

Hey, sweet ride, Mom and Dad!  We are going home in style!  Car seat is locked in place, a few cheesy poses for Mom and Dad and we are off!

Even though Dad drove really slow, it was not a long drive home.

Hey There Furry Friend!
The ride home really put me to sleep

My Fan Club was waiting on me at home, so I let them take a picture with me!

Where is my picture?  I am part of your fan club!

We are going to be best friends!
