Day 6 - A Doo Doo Doo, Doc Doc Doc

The 2nd night home was much different than the first night.  While it was difficult to get Jordie to wake up to eat during her first night home, on the 2nd night she had quite a run of hungry time during the middle of the night.  Jordie had what they call cluster feeding - meaning she needed to eat a lot in a short amount of time

Along with lots of eating, came some serious diaper clean up.  We also had our first near miss as Dad was cleaning up.  His arm missed number 1 and 2 by inches.

Jordie had a busy Monday morning, beginning with a bath and heading to her first Doctor's appointment with her Pediatrician Office (Eastover Pediatrics).  It was important for her to get there today so we could make sure she was gaining weight and starting to put her jaundice behind her.

The Doctor said the red spots over her eyes are known as "Angel Kisses"

Before going to the Doctor,  Jordie had her first bath at home.  We had a lot to live up to getting Jordie's hair to look like they had at the hospital.  Lots of prep work went into a relatively short job.  Laying out towels, soft pads, drying towels, brushes, soap and cups.  Of course the water has to be just the right temperature.  Contrary to Jordie's first bath after she was born, she did seem to really enjoy the shampoo treatment this time.

The bath prep included lots of towels, padding and a sweet Winnie the Pooh towel for post bath (thanks Grace and Jess!)

Thinking about doing a cannon ball into the bath!

And it feels so good!

Wait, you are going to do what?

Not my favorite part - Otto and I dislike being dried off about the same.

My hairdo is back in shape!

The first of 4 outfits for the day!

After a bath, it was time to get ready to head to Eastover Pediatric:

Mommy and I are ready to head to the Doctor's office, hoping for good news!  We are stylin and profilin!
Jordie arriving at the doctor's office in style - sleeping of course - car rides will do that to you!

The doctor's appointment went great.  We had a great visit and again got a confirmation from the Doctor that she is "perfect."  That has to be an unbiased opinion, right?  Some other things we learned/confirmed at the appointment:

  • Weight - Jordie has gained 5.5 ounces since coming home from the hospital - that puts her at 7 lbs 5 ounces
  • It could take up to 2 more weeks for jaundice to be completely gone, but Jordie is doing great
  • The red spots above her eyes are known as "Angel Kisses" and red spot on top of her neck is a "Stork Kiss"
  • Jordie is what they call a "Happy Spitter" - let's hope she at least stays happy about it
  • Jordie's sneezes are newborn sneezes - she has not already inherited her Mom and Dad's allergies and sinus problems - that does not come for approximately 2 years

Long Days lead to afternoon naps!
And sleepy evenings in Dad's arms
Dad is going back to work tomorrow - he says he is going to be off for a longer period of time in a few weeks, but he seems disappointed about not being here tomorrow.  All of my followers will need to be patient for updates on the blog.  We still plan to provide at least a photo of the Day, everyday and hopefully other updates to what Jordie has been up to.
